Halloween 2009

We had a beautiful night for Halloween! Sister as a ladybug and Brother as a bumblebee were quite the pair.

Since Brother was only a few weeks last year for his first Halloween, he hung out in the Moby Wrap for all of the night. This year, however, he was ready to celebrate! We were unsure how he would react to the night but he had a blast.
Here is Brother at his very first trick-or-treat house:

Once he went to a couple of houses, he decided this was amazing. He would stand on the porches, "talk" to the people that come to the door, and wave good-bye.
Even Grandma and Grandpa came along this year, which was an extra special treat for the kids (and a relief for us taking turns carrying Brother!).

Halloween Dinner with Cousins

Brother and Cousin B:
After dinner, it was time to carve pumpkins. This was Daddy's and Sister's first time to do this... ...Sister was less than impressed with the "goo" on the inside and refused to touch it
Brother watched intently as Daddy/Sister and Aunt K/Cousin R made their masterpieces.
After a few minutes, the girls got board and left to play. Daddy and Aunt K kept working.

The final masterpiece:

Up, Up, and Away

These pictures are from about a month ago (sorry they are out of order in the blog; I have a life outside of this website!), but I thought they were worth sharing.
Brother has learned how to climb and loves to get on anything he can. This evening, after getting in pajamas, he decided to climb the stepstool in the bathroom. As you can see, he was so proud of his accomplishment!
"Woah, this is pretty high!"
"Hey, who's that good looking guy?"

"Look at me!"

Bedtime Books

The other night as we were getting ready for bed, both Sister and Brother picked up books and started reading (in the way that a baby and preschooler read). Being the proud mama that I am, my first reaction was to grab the camera.

Sister has this book memorized and likes to "read" it to Brother.
Brother does not have this book memorized but he loves to look at it. "Five Little Ladybugs" is one of his favorite books.

Real Boys Play With Dolls

Brother loves to play with dolls. He will cuddle them, rock them, and snuggle them. Brother has such a sweet, gentle heart.

Brother's Blanket

When I was two months pregnant, my mom offered to make the baby a blanket. This seemed like a great idea, and we picked out fabric. She worked hard and got it pieced together by the summer. Then she moved...and Brother was born...and the holidays came...and we moved..and...well, needless to say, it took awhile before she finished. But none of that matters because his blanket is now done.
Brother, checking it out:
Notice the cute bugs around the edge. When Sister turned one, our good friend Heather make her a blanket and pillow with a dragonfly/butterfly print. This fabric was chosen to compliment that blanket.

Brother enjoys his blanket:
I asked Brother if he liked the blanket, to which he clapped.

Pumpkin Patch with Best Friends

On a dreary Thursday morning, we ventured out to the Pumpkin Patch. This ended up being an unexpected perfect day. For the entire hour and a half during our visit, we were the only people present. The children had the run of the patch and even the dads were able to come over for a while.
Brother found the tractor, and though he couldn't reach the petals, loved sitting on it by himself.
Sister and C also took turns:
I wonder what deep, theological issues the boys are discussing. It was hard for us to interpret, since they mostly say "no" (which means yes for C) and "dat" (which means everything for Brother).
Sister and E as they went through all the little pumpkins to pick out which they were going to buy:

The four children together in the wagon; one of the few pictures we have of all four together (I guess we have to contain them in something with walls in order to accomplish that feat!):

Pumpkin Patch with Cousins

Every year we go to the pumpkin patch with Uncle J, Aunt K, Cousin R and now Cousin B.
Brother and Sister in the pumpkins (it was almost impossible to get a picture of both kids looking at the camera!):
Sister and Cousin R:

The two families. Sister and Cousin R are two months apart; Brother and Cousin B are seven months apart.
